Spanish Resource Recommendation – CHArlanooga
Today, we’re highlighting the CHArlanooga Spanish conversation group. It’s a facebook group for people in Chattanooga who want to mingle and practice their Spanish.
The CHArlanooga group meets on the third Tuesday of each month to have coffee or eat dinner. And we speak Spanish, por supuesto! This is a great way to get to know other Spanish speakers and learners in the community. Some members have also started coordinating other meet-ups outside of our regular monthly meeting, like lunches or coffee meet-ups.
Jaime Kerns initiated this group after meeting with local teachers in our district in January of 2018. Teachers expressed a desire to connect and have adult Spanish time. Since then the group has had consistent attendees each month, like Teo and Emi, and from there the group has grown!
As a new member of CHArlanooga myself (Marisol), I have been enjoying the connections I am making with others in the group, and the opportunity to practice Spanish. It is a great place to meet up with other locals in Chattanooga who are also working on improving their Spanish. We love newcomers, and encourage you to come, even if you are early in your Spanish-speaking journey.
Resource Type: Social gatherings for Spanish speakers and learners.
How to access it: Request to be added to the group on facebook, and be sure to answer the questions! We meet regularly once a month, and sometimes more than that.
When: Keep an eye out for our April event in the facebook group. It will be at Pupuseria Marelyn on April 16th.
Levels: This is a great resource for all Spanish levels. If you are a novice learner, we encourage you to come, listen, and chat.
Price: Free to join! Sometimes we go out for dinner and go on other outings that cost money.
Come charlar in Spanish with us! I hope to see ya there.
